What is Canada Greener Homes Grant?
The Canada Greener Homes initiative by the Government of Canada incentivizes Canadians to make their homes more energy efficient, help homeowners save money, and create new jobs across Canada. The initiative includes:
- Grant up to $5,000 off on approved energy-efficient home retrofits – including solar panel installation for your home!
- Provides a loan of up to $40,000 towards home energy retrofits including solar panel installation. It is a 10-year interest-FREE loan.
How It Works
The Canada Greener Homes Grant
- Apply for Canada Greener Homes Grant.
- After your application is approved, book your Pre-Retrofit Energy Audit with an approved organization listed on the government website.
- Homeowners will get reimbursed for the cost of the pre-and post-retrofit evaluations for up to $600 dollars. To get the grant, both evaluations are required for reimbursement. To be reimbursed for the pre-retrofit evaluation, you must continue through the entire Greener Homes Grant process while also moving forward with at least one retrofit recommended by your energy advisor.
- After completion of the Canada Greener Homes Grant Pre-Retrofit Audit, schedule your solar installation with Level Up Solar.
- Once the solar installation is completed, book a Canada Greener Homes Grant Post-Retrofit Audit.
- Submit all necessary documentation on your Canada Greener Homes Grant Portal.
- The Canadian Government will mail a cheque or wire the grant amount directly into your account.

- You must apply for the Canada greener homes grant first, complete your Pre-retrofit Energy Audit, and then you are eligible to apply for the Canada Greener Homes Loan.
- After your Canada Greener Homes Loan is approved, schedule your solar panel installation with Level Up Solar.
- Once the solar installation is complete, book your Canada Greener Homes Grant Post-Retrofit Audit.
- Submit all necessary documentation on your Canada Greener Homes Grant Portal.
- Receive your Canada Greener Homes Grant and Canada Greener homes loan funds from the Canadian Government.

Eligibility
Canada Greener Homes Grant & Canada Greener Homes Loan eligibility criteria:
All Canadian homeowners are eligible to apply for the Canada Greener Homes Grant, subject to 4 main criteria:
1. Canadian homeowner with proof of primary residence.
2. Have not started the renovation project prior to registration.
3. All equipment must be purchased in Canada
4. Solar panels and inverters must be certified under CSA Standards
